Lupes are incredibly loyal and like to spend their time prowling around Neopia.
The Lupe resembles a wolf or a fox, but more like a Siberian Husky, though its name probably comes from the Latin word lupus ("wolf"). Lupes make particularly loyal pets. They love eating Chias, but mostly as treats that satisfy their needs and to not go hungry. They are instinctually good at hunting and protecting friends.
They were originally introduced on January 13, 2000, by a
1999 user Create-a-Pet contest. Lupes were changed at one time, because the old image of a Lupe was not too attractive.
In the Neopets TCG, Lupes are associated with the element of Earth.
Lupes are among the most popular species. As of June 2007, they were the 4th most popular pet with over 10.3 million created.
Many plots featured on the site have involved a Lupe as a main character, villain, or supporting character. Lupes are also very widely used as characters in roleplay, depicted as wolves. May 2nd is Lupe Day.
